MAURO and CATIA
We are siblings, born and raised in Senigallia. We opened Uliassi’s doors on May 27, 1990. It was a Sunday. Back then, the restaurant was little more than a seaside shanty, but set beside where the river meets the beach, it was perfectly charming nonetheless.
MAURO
Mauro has been in the business of cooking for 50 years.
He got his start as a bartender in nightclubs and then moved on to restaurant and hotel kitchens. He graduated from hospitality school and, just two months after graduation, had the really good fortune to get a job as a cooking teacher in the same school where he had studied.
It wasn’t until later, when he fell in love with his wife, that he discovered his talent for cooking. In cooking for her and her friends, he understood the great power that cooking has to give pleasure to others. In this way, he found his passion and an enthusiasm for life.
A few years later, he and his sister opened Uliassi Cucina di Mare.
It has been more than 35 wonderful years since then.
CATIA
Catia grew up in her parents’ coffee shop, where she learned to love this work and, above all, the art of connecting with people.
When she opened the restaurant, she was barely 20 years old. Today, she organizes and manages the front-of-house, ensuring that every guest feels as welcome as if they were at home.
She loves fashion and design, but her greatest passion is painting.
Over the years, her works have been displayed not only inside the restaurant, but also in art galleries in Italy and abroad, from New York to Hong Kong.
