Catia Uliassi
Restaurant manager
I grew up in my parents’ coffee shop, a popular, vibrant locale on the outskirts of Senigallia that’s still thriving today, thanks to my brother Walter. In that coffee shop, I learned what it was to love one’s work as well as dedication to and the art of connecting with people, values that I have carried with me ever since.
After getting my diploma in accounting and a brief stint at university, in 1990 I opened Ristorante Uliassi together with my brother Mauro. I was barely 20 years old at the time and it was all sort of a game to me, an exciting adventure that was instantly and immensely gratifying.
Mauro and I have gone together through every chapter of our professional story. These days, I organize and manage the front-of-house, ensuring that guests are made to feel as welcome as if they were at home. Our home beside the sea.
In 2015 I married Mauro Paolini, who is our executive chef and who has been a dear friend since the early days of our adventure. We have a wonderful son, Gianmarco, who lives in Milan.
I love fashion and design, but my greatest passion is painting; a passion I discovered quite by chance in 2000 after a visit to an exhibition of informal art. Inspired then and there by the works of Lucio Fontana, Galileo Chini and the brothers Dino, Mirko and Afro Basaldella, I have never stopped painting. Over the years, my works have been displayed not only on the walls of the restaurant, but also in art galleries in Italy and abroad, from New York to Hong Kong.
My path, both personal and professional, is forever evolving and is rich in new opportunities.
